Como director y líder artístico originario de España, Juan creó esta iniciativa para tender puentes entre culturas, no muros. En un momento en el que algunos tratan de borrar la diversidad, en 2 Batons creemos en celebrarla. Este proyecto ampliado busca ahora llevar toda la riqueza del arte musical español a Estados Unidos—no solo a los compositores, sino también, en el futuro, a instrumentistas y vocalistas cuyo trabajo merece mayor reconocimiento. A través de esta iniciativa compartimos las historias y los sonidos de la vibrante comunidad musical de España con agrupaciones, públicos e instituciones estadounidenses, fomentando la conexión, la comprensión y el intercambio artístico a través de las fronteras.

As a conductor and arts leader originally from Spain, Juan created this initiative to build bridges between cultures—not walls. At a time when some seek to erase diversity, we at 2 Batons believe in celebrating it. This expanded project now aims to bring the full richness of Spanish musical artistry to the United States—not only composers, but in the future also instrumentalists and vocalists, whose work deserves wider recognition. Through this initiative, we share the stories and sounds of Spain’s vibrant musical community with American ensembles, audiences, and institutions, fostering connection, understanding, and artistic exchange across borders.
INICIATIVA DE COMPOSITORES
La Iniciativa de Compositores Españoles se creó para dar impulso a las voces creativas que están moldeando el panorama musical contemporáneo de España. En 2 Batons creemos que la diversidad en la programación es una fortaleza y que los públicos crecen cuando descubren nuevas perspectivas y nuevos sonidos. A través de este proyecto, apoyamos la obra de compositores españoles conectando su música con agrupaciones, directores y educadores estadounidenses, ampliando así el acceso a un repertorio que merece ser escuchado. Nuestra misión es fomentar un intercambio artístico que enriquezca a ambas culturas y permita que la música española ocupe el lugar que le corresponde en los escenarios de todo Estados Unidos.
COMPOSERS INITIATIVE
The Spanish Composers Initiative was founded to elevate the creative voices shaping Spain’s contemporary musical landscape. At 2 Batons, we believe that diversity in programming is a strength, and that audiences grow when they encounter new perspectives and sounds. Through this project, we champion the work of Spanish composers by connecting their music with American ensembles, conductors, and educators, expanding access to repertoire that deserves to be heard. Our mission is to foster artistic exchange that enriches both cultures and helps Spanish music take its rightful place on stages across the United States.

La Iniciativa de Artistas Españoles está diseñada para destacar el talento extraordinario de los instrumentistas y vocalistas de España, llevando su arte a nuevos públicos en Estados Unidos. Basados en la convicción de que la música prospera mediante el intercambio cultural, en 2 Batons impulsamos a intérpretes españoles cuyas voces, interpretaciones e identidades creativas merecen una mayor visibilidad más allá de sus fronteras. Nuestro objetivo es abrir puertas—conectando a artistas españoles con conjuntos, programadores, docentes y comunidades estadounidenses—para que su música pueda inspirar, enriquecer y ampliar el paisaje cultural a ambos lados del Atlántico.

The Spanish Artists Initiative is designed to spotlight the extraordinary talent of Spain’s instrumentalists and vocalists, bringing their artistry to new audiences across the United States. Rooted in the belief that music thrives through cultural exchange, 2 Batons champions Spanish performers whose voices, interpretations, and creative identities deserve greater visibility beyond their borders. Our goal is to open doors—connecting Spanish artists with American ensembles, presenters, educators, and communities—so that their music can inspire, enrich, and broaden the cultural landscape on both sides of the Atlantic.
