A work for DJ & Band with optional voice part
Comes with additional audio files for performance.
From the Composer’s Notes (more instructions included):
The piece is based on the concept of “choose your own adventure” books, where the musicians and the conductor have the ability to influence the sonic outcome of the work.
Each part (except unpitched percussion and voice) contains two staves. The conductor or the musicians (by sections) must decide which “path” they will follow. They may only switch between staves at each rehearsal letter. This structure allows every performance to be different from the previous one. The vocal part is optional.
The DJ materials consist of two components: individual sounds and two pre-recorded versions of the piece. All of the individual sounds have the same duration as the full work. The DJ may perform the piece in three ways:
Using a launchpad or DAW, assigning the sounds to different buttons or tracks and activating or deactivating them freely;
Loading one of the two pre-recorded versions onto a mixing board and mixing that track;
Using the available sounds to create an entirely new version.
