An energetic, groovy work that grabs attention from beginning to the end, this work was in part inspired by the Japanese student break-dance group and their dance music, at Coe College, the “Hi-cockers” (named after Hickock Hall), who frequently performed around the campus and at the annual Coe College International Cultural Show.
Originally composed for the Coe College Alma A. Turechek String Quartet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa 2005 under the name B minor String Quartet (Interlude) and performed in public reading sessions at Coe College at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, it won the title of Honorable Mention in the Iowa Student Composers Forum - College Division. A string orchestra adaptation was made with the title Stomp for Buffett Middle School Fusion String Ensemble under the direction of Tom Miller, 2013, marking its premier.
